This is the last of the frimps from the April BPAL order. I've reached the point where I need more than just a little tea sample tin in which to store my imps. Time to go shopping. *g*
Megaera - Orris, black amber, bergamot, plum and grapefruit.
Wet: Fresh citrus, light and sweet.
Dry down: Amber warms things up, and I can recognize orris now coming to the top.
Dry: The orris fades to blend with the spice of the bergamot, however it is still primarily amber with bright citrus notes. An interesting scent to have in the collection, but not one I'd buy again.
Blood Pearl - Lustrous, sanguine, soft and lavish: soft orris, blood musk, and coconut.
Wet: Strong musk but nice.
Dry down: Orris comes up from underneath, very soft.
Dry: Musky floral, very nice. The coconut might be there mellowing the other notes but I can't pick it out. This is one of those scents that doesn't hit me as special, but I've said that before so this goes into rotation.
Caliban - The scent of the salty seas, bittersweet wine, palm and tropical ferns.
Wet: Very green. Wet ferns, it has that distinct scent.
Dry down: Wet ferns drying off.
Dry: Tropical greenery. The wine never came out on me and the rest is fading fast. It's better than I expected actually, but it's not me. This is unadulterated green (at least on me); it might also be a good layering scent if green notes are a preference.
Akuma - Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry.
Wet: Very sweet. Reminds me of cherry bubble gum.
Dry down: Citrus is coming through giving it a freshness, but it's still very sweet.
Dry: Sweet - I can't say I wasn't warned. It's primarily the sweet of a really good orange, with tang behind it and a hint of blossoms. However the raspberry keeps tipping it into the "bubble gum" place for me, so I give this one a pass.
Slobbering Pine - Dewy, wet, whiplike and sticky.
I'll admit this one scared me, but it's not Pine-Sol, not X-mas Candles Evergreen, it's fresh cut boughs. It even has that hint of cut wood behind the scent of the sap. There isn't much difference in the dry down of the oil, only the intensity changes with time. I would never wear it on my skin (I've worn enough real evergreen sap and sawdust in my life), but it is a very realistic scent and I might find something to do with it by December.
